Moratorium is Still Valid, Let’s Obey It!
Moratorium is a discontinuance or prohibition of sending Indonesian workers to Middle East regions, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Syria, and others, including Abu Dhabi, the capital city of United Arab Emirates. It starts to launched by the year of 2015 together with the Ministerial Decree from The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration number 260 The Year 2015. The main idea of the decree is that Indonesia stopping and prohibiting sending workers to an individual user in the Middle East region because it causing a lot of problems for the workers themselves because of weak protection.
Criminal cases, violation of human rights, and human trafficking that happen a lot in Middle East region is the purpose of the moratorium, to protect worker’s rights and safety to the fullest.
A few days ago, Embassy of Republic Indonesia in Abu Dhabi sent home eight female workers which indicated to do data manipulating. They are part of total twelve female workers that did a violation of the ministerial decree and sent home by Embassy of Republic Indonesia in Abu Dhabi. Another four persons that sent home first from Abu Dhabi is profoundly using housemaid visa to the individual user, and they breaking the Ministerial Decree from The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration number 260 The Year 2015.
“Those eight Indonesian female workers rode away to United Arab Emirates by manipulating data process. Meanwhile, other four female workers using housemaid visa for individual user. “Our team has sent them home on February 19th,” said by Attache of Labor Force Embassy of Republic Indonesia in Abu Dhabi, Janususilo. He expects all the participants could obey the rules for their own goodness. Although the purpose of the moratorium is clear, the government want to protect the worker who works abroad, but there are still a lot of them who break the rules to get a job.
Manpower Minister, Hanif Dhakari, claims the government still imposing the moratorium for informal worker to Middle East region. For now on, our country prioritizing skilled worker placement rather than the informal one, he added.
